The Jersey Data Protection Authority (the Authority) was formed in 2018. It is an independent regulatory body established to promote respect for the private lives of individuals through ensuring privacy of their personal information.
The Authority oversees the work of the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner (JOIC) supporting the development and implementation of initiatives to support its strategic outcomes:
Regulating data protection has become increasingly complex in recent years, and more important than ever before. The last two years has been a turbulent time, due in part to issues such as Brexit and the Covid pandemic. As we take stock and look to the future, we are seeking experienced, forward-thinking individuals to help us successfully navigate the myriad of data protection and privacy challenges facing our Island.
The successful candidates will possess in-depth knowledge and experience of data protection and privacy, with a proven track record in a senior leadership or board level role. Please see our Candidate Brief, for full details.
We’re the regulator but we’re far from regular. We are a small team with big ambitions and a clear purpose. Our people are the heartbeat of our work and our culture flows through everything we do. When you join the JOIC, you are not just part of a team, you are part of a family. We are an equal opportunities employer, committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
We can consider applications from suitably qualified candidates who do not hold ‘entitled’ or ‘entitled to work’ status in Jersey.
Please note successful candidates will be required to complete a check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
