How confident do you feel managing risks around your personal information? Are you aware you have rights about the information about you and organisations that use that information need to adhere to local law?
Jersey’s Information Commissioner Paul Vane is today launching our annual survey for 2025, to find out.
Our ‘It’s All About You’ survey seeks to explore Islanders’ opinions about data protection and privacy and we want to hear from Islanders. The Commissioner is asking us all to share the survey with colleagues, family and friends.
Commissioner Vane said: “Surveys like these are vital indicators for us as a regulatory authority as they help us to gauge overall awareness of data privacy and the Data Protection (Jersey) Law (2018) to help shape our work. The survey aims to gather information about how Islanders feel about data protection and privacy whilst also enhancing overall awareness of local data protection law.
Data protection is about people protection. It’s about mitigating the risks around the handling of personal data, to reduce any distress or harm caused by the misuse of personal data. When personal data falls into the wrong hands, especially highly sensitive data, it can have devastating consequences for individuals. We want Islanders to be thinking about safeguarding their own data, as well as the data they may be handling at their workplace, charity, club or association, instinctively. We also want to find out more about how Islanders would like us to communicate with them, both at work and at home, so we can ensure our guidance and support reaches them in the best possible way.”
Our It's All About You survey is confidential and all responses remain anonymous. The survey outcomes will be shared on our website.
