The Jersey Data Protection Authority (JDPA) is honoured to have appointed locally born and educated Tom Noel as a Voting Member of the Jersey Data Protection Authority, following a comprehensive recruitment process.
A Chartered Accountant and Chartered Director with a wealth of knowledge and experience gained both locally and abroad, Tom brings a distinguished career spanning finance, technology and governance, and a valuable combination of strategic insight, financial acumen and in-depth understanding of Jersey’s regulatory landscape.
Widely recognised in Jersey for his leadership across a range of organisations including JT, the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter and the Institute of Directors, Tom will enhance the JDPA’s Governance function, serving as Chair of its Audit and Risk Committee.
Elizabeth Denham CBE, Chair, Jersey Data Protection Authority, said: “We are delighted to welcome Tom Noel to our authority. His deep understanding of both industry operations and public service will be invaluable as we tackle the complex technological and social challenges facing Jersey and beyond. I look forward to working closely with him and benefitting from his local and global insights as we carry out our mission to protect information rights in Jersey.”
Commenting on his appointment, Tom said: “I’m very pleased to be joining the Jersey Data Protection Authority as a voting member. As a proud Jerseyman, I look forward to supporting its mission to safeguard Islanders, particularly in areas close to my heart such as children’s privacy, the responsible use of AI, and strengthening cybersecurity. These are critical issues for our community today, and I look forward to contributing to this important work.”
Tom leads his own business, Accelerate Consulting, which specialises in commercial growth and leadership.
He replaces Helen Hatton, whose term expired earlier this year.
