In this section you can find public statements issued by us in relation to infringements of the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018, results of our audit programme and decision notices that set out our decisions in respect of FOI appeals.
Data protection law holds businesses and organisations entrusted with personal data accountable, sets standards for how that information is used and also to provide a framework for enforcement where rules are breached.
We highlight the lessons learned to help other businesses and organisations to improve their working practices.
Freedom of Information is fundamental to a healthy democracy, empowering citizens to engage with government decisions, hold public authorities accountable and build trust in Government. We continue to uphold this right by monitoring compliance, promoting best practices and deciding appeals when someone thinks that the law has not been complied with.
