Main focus of Claire's role and her area of expertise
Claire manages all aspects of the accounting function for JOIC.
Day to day responsibilities
Claire is responsible for the preparation and communication of the JOIC annual budgets as well as the project and capital spend budgets. She oversees the production of the monthly management accounts, conducts variance analysis, and provides advice on utilising the budgets to maximise resource efficiency and deliver value for money.
Claire builds accurate forecasts by analysing the financial data available and monitoring trends, to provide financial guidance to the JOIC executive and the JDPA through the Audit and Risk Committee, to support sound decision making regarding the financial resource available to JOIC.
Claire is also responsible for establishing and maintaining financial policies and procedures to support the JOIC finance function, she identifies at a strategic level the internal systems and processes required to comply with Corporate Governance and Best Practice.
In addition, Claire identifies and recommends the appropriate accounting standards for JOIC and prepares the annual financial statements in line with these standards. She is also responsible for overseeing the external financial audit including the tendering process.
Finally Claire manages the JOIC finance team to ensure accurate recording of information and to ensure targets are completed to tight deadlines.

Career experience
Prior to this role Claire was the Head of Finance for Highlands College where she provided advice and support to the Senior Leadership Team. Before this, Claire was a Management Accountant for the Government of Jersey.
